I also slid the detachable chain through the rings twice to adjust the length of the chain before connecting to the rings. The magnetic closure was secure even with the purse full. It is a fairly dark navy, but does not hit at being black. It also comes very well packaged and with a storage bag. If you need a navy clutch and suede works with your outfit - I would definitely recommend the bag.
